Facilities that are built especially for notorious criminals have greatly evolved and stronger bars seemed inadequate these days. Here are 8 prisons that are famous for their advanced security measures that are impossible to escape.

Administrative Maximum Facility (ADX), U.S.A

ADX Florence was built on Florence Colorado in 1994. This super maximum federal prison is not just considered the most secure prison in the United States, but also in the world. It is also dubbed as the safest one as inmates are kept in their cells the entire day. ADX is built on a 37-acre land that can house 490 Supermax prisoners.

This facility is specially designed for both high-profile and dangerous prisoners. About 95 percent of prisoners here have histories of aggressive behavior in other penitentiaries.

La Santé Prison, France

The La Santé Prison was established in 1867. It is one of the most famous prisons in the world as there is really no way out. It may have a simple security measure, but they managed to make it impossible to escape. La Santé’s clever architecture is the one responsible for prison break failures. Even sewage pipes are locked. In 2002, about 120 inmates took their own lives because of the terrible living condition.

Fuchu Prison, Japan

 Fuchu holds the reputation for having the most advanced security measure among all prisons in the world. The facility was originally built for those who are affiliated in the Korean freedom movement and leaders that support communism. It holds more than 2,086 prisoners and nobody has ever escaped before.

Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary, U.S.A

Located in the San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz was first built in the 1860’s. Some of the famous inmates that housed the penitentiary were Whitey Bulger, Rafael Miranda, and Al Capone. The facility is originally used for detaining military prisoners until it was taken over by the U.S. Government in 1933. Prisoners who tried to escape died by drowning.

Arthur Road Jail, India

 The Mumbai Central Prison, or Arthur Road Jail, is the biggest and oldest prison in Mumbai. It holds a reputation of inmates being terrified when transferred here. It spreads 2 acres of land and housing a capacity of 1,000 inmates, resulting to overpopulation and spread of diseases. It also maintains a record of zero prison breaks.

Federal Correctional Complex, U.S.A

Indiana’s Federal Correctional Complex is a maximum security prison that has a minimal number of guards. This facility is widely known to correct irrational and violent behaviors of inmates. It may have a small amount of personnel but is equipped with 30-degree surveillance cameras with biometric locks, facial recognition, and motion sensors.

Black Dolphin Prison, Russia

 This prison holds as much as 700 inmates and has 1:1.3 ratio of inmates to guards, meaning there are 900 guards for 700 prisoners. Black Dolphin is home of Russia’s worst criminals including murderers, terrorists, and even cannibals. Head counts are done every 15 minutes, leaving no gap for any attempted escape.

Qincheng Prison, China

The facility was built in the late 1950’s with the purpose of detaining active participants of the Democracy Movement. Being the highest security prison in China, it has the tallest watchtower in the world. Qincheng’s 5,000 armed security guards will make sure all inmates are kept locked.
